Yixian forest floor by ornithischophilia Yixian forest floor by ornithischophilia
Two Jeholosaurus chill out on the floor of an Early Cretaceous forest that will become the Yixian Formation in Liaoning, China. The early buttercup Leefructus is between the two individuals, and a snakefly has caught the attention of the one on the left.

The integument may be a bit fanciful, there's no reason to assume the tails would have been naked, but here it accentuates the tail-tip tassels; dinofuzz may have been more varied than we realize.

It's amazing. You drew Kulindadromeus before we even knew about it.

Nahh....  a little bird might have told me something about Kulinda about a year and a half ago.  And then there was that SVP abstract that wasn't followed through due to Pascal's unfortunate timing in breaking his leg.

Although, it should be noted, I have been drawing feathered ornithischians since the 90s.

... and the "segmentation" looks great. Certainly a great way to challenge the boundaries of dinosaurian integument within the constraints of what's possible, and I agree it's something rarely done. I really like this one.

Well, the "segmentation" is an allusion to mice, rats, and American 'possums, but is also based on something for which I am not a psychic.

I'm not. You know about that animal prepublication, and so do I. I just learned about it before you. And since it's still not been published, that's all I'm willing to really say. Other than its freaking awesome.

Thanks!  Tail tips in dinosaurs are begging for attention, IMHO.

This is really great! It looks like you just went outside and drew it from life, they look like living animals.

Thanks! I'm happy with the color scheme and look overall, but the medium leaves a little to be desired.  I would like to learn how to paint in photoshop. Or anything in photoshop... Jesus I feel like such a luddite :-P
